HOW PERCEPTIONS OF WOMEN LEADERS INFLUENCE SOCIETY AND WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT

Recently, the Reykjavik Index for Leadership, created by Women Political Leaders and Kantar – and launched during the Women Leaders Global Forum 2018 – was featured in the United Nations-related magazine Our World and in The Forum Network,  the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) online hub for shared conversations.

“The Reykjavik Index for Leadership, ” explains Silvana Koch-Mehrin, WPL President and Founder, authoring the article, ” illuminates attitudes and perceptions, as a means to understand how much further we have to go until being a woman or a man is a non-issue when debating suitability for leadership”. “More work needs to be done so that the male/female dissonance is reduced, and the tensions in workplaces, homes and communities are removed” continues Silvana Koch-Mehrin”.

The Index is a useful tool which highlights the important role of evidence on the journey to equality and will be the focus of the Discovery Lab session WPL organises in the framework of the 20th OECD Forum World in EMotion on 20-21 May, in Paris. This session provides an interactive space to explore transformation paths for the world of the future through the lenses of evidence.
